Lightweight D-eight Proves To Be A Dunhill Heavyweight
The d-eight collection marks dunhill's foray into the monogram industry where other venerable brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Coach have found immense success with their captivating motifs.
d-eight, as the name implies, is a pattern made up of repetitive sets of eight interlocking "d"s. The pattern doesn't look quite as distinctive as that of Louis Vuitton or Gucci and it has to do with the fact that the dark brown "d"s are printed on black canvas. But actually I like it this way. Monogram accessories can look ostentatious and loud on a guy, especially when those logos are printed on large items such as a briefcase or a messenger bag.
Typical of dunhill leather products, d-eight is extremely durable. I got myself a d-eight messenger bag about 2 years ago and it looks as good as new, even though I've been throwing it around. And it's incredibly light, a key success factor of this travel collection.
d-eight is also the most attractively-priced collection. The wallets are about USD60-70 cheaper than its counterparts so it's great value for money since all d-eight wallets and small leather goods are also manufactured in either France or Italy.
What I don't like about the d-eight collection is that the wallets tend to be rather thick because of the canvas material. Hence it can be very bulky. If I were to choose a d-eight wallet, I'll probably go for a simple one with credit card slots only.
