If dunhill's intention is to make dunhill Confidential a well-kept secret, I must congratulate them because I think they succeeded in doing so. The collection is frankly forgettable and will most likely fade into obscurity among dunhill's many collections of leather goods.

When I first saw the collection on the catalog, I was drawn to the black exterior and tan interior lining. I'm a sucker for two-tone wallets. I find them a lot more interesting. Cartier did a great job with the Cabochon collection of black and burgundy calfskin wallets. Mont Blanc also successfully launched the Boheme collection in black lizard-embossed calfskin with French lambskin lining in red or grey.

But somehow, dunhill Confidential fails to pull it off even though black/tan is arguably the safest color combination. I think it has a lot to do with the calfskin that's used in this collection. Sad to say, it looks cheap. And that's ironic given that Confidential is one of dunhill's most expensive collections of leather goods. It scratch quite easily too so that makes it worse.

A nice logo hardware may just save the day but unfortunately, the squarish palladium-plated logo hardware looks terribly boring.

It may not be easy to convince even die-hard dunhill fans to shell out USD250 for a Confidential wallet. I know I'm not convinced.
